The Company
The primary aim of the Verlag an der Ruhr is to provide teachers with pupil orientated products, making education more stimulating, exploratory, and rewarding.
Multidisciplinary workshops which deal with a variety of topics include, for example, learning card files or language games to encourage natural, open learning - learning by discovering and experimenting, learning in groups, self organised and with fun.
Our program offers a rescue for teachers in the daily chaos of classroom life and curriculum demands - with clear, easy to use, photocopiable worksheets to motivate pupils and give them more responsibility for their own learning. With their active learning methods, self-checking mechanisms, and lively artwork, these products are accessible to and suitable for all pupils, including those with special educational needs. The motto is 'learning by doing' and exploring with all your senses to take advantage of different ways of learning.
Our learning material is instantly recognisable from the outside by its environmentally friendly cardboard covers, and from inside by its practical, hands-on approach to learning. The products are designed to encourage pupils to take an active role in their own learning, to give the children the opportunity to work independently and to their own level. Not only do they help maintaining the pupils' attention and thus make life easier for the teacher but they introduce pupils to creative learning and give them a clear understanding why certain skills are useful and meaningful in everyday life.
Since all our products are made by teachers for teachers and have all been tried and tested in schools, we can assure you they do not only look good - they work!
The wealth of new, lively and versatile ideas our publications offer to enhance the teacher's work includes Maths, English, Science, Art and PSE and many others. There is a wide range of products for either primary or secondary education available.

Ab dem 01. Februar erhält Verlag an der Ruhr-Geschäftsführerin Dorothea Kieler Verstärkung: Annika Renker, seit Januar 2009 im Unternehmen, wechselt in die Geschäftsleitung. Während sich Dorothea Kieler künftig vor allem um die verlegerischen Belange kümmern wird, widmet sich Annika Renker mit gewohnt großem Einsatz dem Bereich Marketing und Werbung.

Die Grundschule am Oemberg aus Mülheim an der Ruhr ist stolze Gewinnerin der Lesung mit unserer Erfolgsautorin Annette Weber. Am 26. Januar 2012 zogen Vertreter der VBE-Stadtverbände Bottrop, Mülheim und Oberhausen die Gewinnerschule aus allen 17 Teilnehmern. Als zweiten und dritten Preis freuen sich zwei Schulen aus Oberhausen über Büchergutscheine vom Verlag an der Ruhr.
Die taz widmet sich in einer ausführlichen Buchbesprechung unserem neuen Inklusions-Ratgeber „Eine Schule für alle“. In der Ausgabe vom 18. Januar setzt sich Autorin Sylva Brit Jürgensen mit dem Titel, der seit Kurzem lieferbar ist und sich schon jetzt großer Resonanz erfreut, detailliert auseinander – mit positivem Fazit.
